Queer on Their Feet is the only show in the country that features stand up and improv in the same show by the same performers. Jennie McNulty and Diana Yanez form an amazing comedy duo (occasionally joined by other funny stand ups in some locations) whose style and material complement each other marvelously. The show's format has each performer doing stand up alone and then they join together onstage for hysterical improvisation based on suggestions from the audience.
Diana hails from Miami, FL (the “other” Cuba) and is first generation Cuban-American. In high school, she performed in many talent shows and sketches but in college her parents insisted that she study business. She escaped to Germany on an art scholarship to study Photography and soon found her way back to her passion, comedy. Her heroes include Carol Burnette,Lily Tomlin, Lucile Ball, and Madelein Kahn but don’t let her love of humor fool you, Diana studied with acting guru, Eric Morris and has numerous memorable dramatic performances to her credit.
VIVA LA EVOLUCIÓN! is Diana’s first one-woman show and is based on her life experiences. The original 15 minute version won the DRAMA QUEENS COMPETITION in LA, 2009. Together with Marjorie Duffield (co-developer) a new one-hour workshop version was premiered at the Illuminating Artists Series produced by The Emerging Artists Theater Co. In 2010, the final version was performed at the BERKSHIRE FRINGE FESTIVAL and the prestigious, NEW YORK INT’L FRINGE FESTIVAL where this one-woman comedy won the OVERALL EXCELLENCE AWARD for Solo Shows.
“As soon as Diana Yanez dances onto the stage
(mojito in hand) … it's clear we're in for
an intriguing experience.”
